If I was a semi-artsy Russian dude in the first few decades of the 20th century I would have such a crush on this broad

Varg is from Norway and was pretty weird and made genius music then he killed his friend.

Grazhdanskaya Oborona

This is Grazhdanskaya Oborona, a band I've been getting really insanely into over the past few months. They were pretty much the Soviet Crass, but that hardly describes them right. They were from Siberia, and the desolateness shows in the music. It's really fast lo-fi ugly sounding punk, with a lot of Russian folk, Post-Punk, and even ska influences. Most of the band's songs were recorded in lead singer Yegor Letov (who really deserves his own post)'s apartment with shitty Eastern Bloc equipment. The lyrics are really good, although I've only gotten a pidgin english babelfish translation of them. their site has most of their music up for free. It's in Russian but it's not hard to figure out what link does what. I'm pretty sure some of Yegor's side projects are up there too. Check it out.

PS: I recommend the albums "Nekrofiliya" and "Armageddon Pops".
